The newly designed Youth Centre space is finally ready. Come down and check it out...flat screen TV, new couches, new furnitue, and a soon-to-be installed sound system. -Sept.15, 2011

Hello Everyone. My name is John Stiver, and I will be taking over for Matt as the Youth Services Co-Ordinator. I am very excited to begin working with the terrific programs already in place, and expanding some, like the Thursday night music. We will soon be adding a PA system, and a drum kit to the Youth Center, once our new renos are complete. I look forward to seeing you here!


We now have an Xbox at the Youth Centre, but only one controller. If anyone has and extra one please let us know or bring it on by.

Bowen Island Municipality is accepting applications for the permanent part-time position of Youth Services Coordinator.

Reporting directly to the Director of Community Recreation Services, the Youth Services Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, managing and evaluating programs and services for Bowen Island youth.  The candidate will be responsible for providing youth outreach services and will be required to develop relationships of mutual trust, respect and caring in order to establish ongoing influential relationships with youth (11-18 years old) for the purposes of providing support and making effective referrals where appropriate.

The Youth Services Coordinator will be responsible for the management of the Bowen Youth Centre and for the supervision of a team of Auxiliary Youth Workers.  Working with the Community Recreation Programmer(s), and in partnership with youth and/or other organizations, the Youth Services Coordinator will plan, develop, coordinate and implement community-based youth programs.

The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology or equivalent work related experience.  Additional qualifications include: current first aid/CPR, successful completion of a criminal record check, excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with youth, co-workers and staff.  This is varied work and involves flexible working hours including weekends and evenings.

We offer a competitive salary within a 25 hour work week (permanent part-time) that includes a comprehensive benefits package.
